With this awareness and understanding in place, the next step is to look at the mechanisms and methods you’re employing to reach your target audience and deliver your message.

Making your Career Site disabled-friendly

According to the World Report on Disability by the World Health Organization and the World Bank, more than 1 billion people in the world experience some form of disability. For many of these people, their disability means that they use and view websites in different ways. It is therefore important, and in many jurisdictions required by law, that companies ensure that their career sites are accessible for the disabled.

Want to engage and retain millennial women in the workplace? Give us wings to fly

At this very moment, millennials (those born between 1980 and 1995) make up the largest share of the workforce, with millennial women alone projected to form approximately 25% of the global workforce by 2020. While much has been made of the propensity for women within this demographic to leave their jobs, the reality is, millennial women are only ever so slightly more likely than men (67% to 64%) to leave their employers within the next five years, according to a recent study by Deloitte.

Work is the curse of the drinking classes

Oscar Wilde, in a play on Karl Marx’s words, remarked that “work is the curse of the drinking classes”. In doing so, Wilde captured the contrast between the workplace as a place of boredom and stress, and the convivial atmosphere of the pub wherein friends gather to socialize and have fun. Yet the nature of work has changed since the 19th century; the modern manager takes a holistic approach to the individual employee, aligning work with the employee’s requirements. The same can be said of the recruiter.

Top 4 Ways to Attract, Identify, and Engage College Students

In the ‘War for Talent,’ your business faces stiff competition to find interns/graduates with data analysis, programming, and foreign languages to name but a few of the most sought after skills. To improve the effectiveness of your talent acquisition strategy, your relationship with these candidates should begin before they start looking for a job. In order to establish yours as an employer of choice with this target group, you should be engaging with passive prospects while they are still in college. By giving your brand visibility early on in the candidate journey and cultivating that relationship, you ensure that when the time comes for top talent to make an employment decision, your organization is front and center in their minds.

Career Sites Hacked

Last March, McDonald’s Canadian career site was hacked. The data breach resulted in the personal information of 95,000 job applicants falling into the wrong hands. Names, home addresses, emails, phone numbers, and the employment history of candidates were all compromised.

The McDonald’s career site hack is part of an ever-growing list. In recent years, a security flaw in Cisco’s mobile job site exposed sensitive information about applicants including passwords and answers to security questions, while in a separate incident, some of Virginia Tech’s 145,000 job applicants had driver’s license numbers and information on criminal convictions leaked among other personal data.

We live in an age of over-saturation. From coffee shops to content, every day, the average consumer is faced with a multitude of choices.

So, how do we go about making our decisions?

Various factors come into play — recommendations and referrals from trusted sources like friends and family, for example. We tend to value these suggestions above all others because they come from people who know us i.e. their recommendations are based on their understanding of our likes, preferences, and interests.

Their suggestions are highly personalized and therefore, are what we deem to be "relevant."

An SEO Primer for TA Landing Pages

As you may know, the first place a typical job seeker goes online isn’t a job board . . . it’s Google. With the new Google for Jobs (which Clinch customers benefit from automatically), if you follow Google’s Guide, your actual Job Postings may appear.

But what about your Career Site Landing Pages? There are somewhere between 100-300 million career based queries (depending on who you believe) on Google and not all are job based, so it makes sense to get your landing page content to appear more often, right?

How to get started with a search engine optimization (SEO) strategy for career sites and jobs.

Several years ago I spent some time consulting into a Yellow pages online directory business. The emergence of Google as first port of call to answer someone's day to day queries like "Where will I find a lawyer in Manhattan" had necessitated a shift in strategy. The game plan was to optimise the directory to capture the lion's share of the page one results pages and then pass that traffic on to the lawyer or plumber who was paying to feature their business on the directory. Sound familiar?

How to Measure Recruitment Marketing Effectiveness: 5 KPIs

When it comes to Recruitment Marketing, many still struggle with how to measure its effectiveness.

The definition and purpose is pretty straight forward; attract, engage, nurture, and convert prospects to applicants, but for many in the industry, there is still something of a grey area surrounding the quantifiability of its success.

Certainly, quality of hire is one indicator. However, for optimum results, getting more quality prospects into your talent network and better qualified candidates into your ATS with less recruiter time spent, is even more important. Monitoring the impact of your efforts much earlier on in the recruitment marketing process is vital.

For the past few years we’ve all heard about how the world of work is quickly changing and gearing up for a massive shift. Whether you are a believer or not, one thing history has taught us is that technology will continue to push the limits of how we do things.

Capture and better manage more leads with Clinch kiosk mode for recruiting events

How effectively are you handling lead capture at events?

When your company has a presence at a recruiting or careers fair, how do you keep track of the hundreds, if not thousands of candidates you meet?

More importantly, how easy is it for you, using your current processes, to follow up with those candidates and nurture the relationships that will ultimately lead to applications?

Clinch’s “kiosk mode” allows users to capture details for multiple candidates via one landing page, on a single device. This feature is perfect for recruitment events and career fairs, enabling the fast and secure capture of candidate information on your company laptop or tablet.

9 brilliant best practices to increase your career site conversion rate

Research has shown that in most all cases, the candidate journey starts with a search for jobs on Google or Indeed. It’s only when job seekers want more information on what it's like to actually work for a particular organization that they turn their attention to the careers site.

At this stage, the candidate is considering your company as a potential future-employer, so if it’s your goal to attract, engage, and ultimately convert talent, it’s important to recognize that the experience your career site delivers will be integral to achieving that.

In this eBook, we lay out nine best practices (excerpts from which you’ll find below) to implement when updating an existing career site or creating a new one.

Clinch Ups the CX Game, Rolls Out Autofill by LinkedIn

We're pleased to announce that Autofill by Linkedin is now available for use in Clinch calls-to-action.

Now, with a single click, candidates can see CTAs on job pages and career sites automatically update to reflect their information as it appears in LinkedIn.

Autofill by LinkedIn benefits both the candidate and the recruiter

Not only does this feature facilitate faster, easier completion of calls-to-actions by candidates, enhancing the candidate experience as a result, it also sends that candidate’s LinkedIn profile information over to their candidate record in the Clinch CRM.

How to Ensure Software Implementation and Adoption

With new technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Automation exploding the number of HRTech offerings, the variety also acts as a burden in the eyes of many tech buyers.

Selecting the best software for their needs is only a part of the task, and when it’s a group decision (as it should be), a software’s feature set usually is what sways the choice. Instead, businesses should consider the software’s industry success history, flexibility, customer support and integration ability. It’s this last element that keeps buyers up at night.

Case Study | How leading retailer, Floor & Decor, grew career site traffic and increased candidate conversions with Clinch

"While we were doing well prior to Clinch being implemented, we are now getting more traffic beyond my expectations. It’s a phenomenal vehicle.”— Stephanie Sordelet, Head of Talent, Floor & Decor

The client

Floor & Decor is a leading specialty retailer in the hard surface flooring market, offering the broadest in-stock selection of tile, wood, stone, related tools and flooring accessories at everyday low prices.

The challenge

With 83 stores already across the U.S., the company is growing rapidly. In 2017, its talent acquisition team was on the lookout for a recruitment marketing and CRM solution that would enable them to promote their employer brand and generate a healthy volume of qualified candidates to support its growth as a result.

Ask about the hottest topic trending in Talent Acquisition (TA) and you’ll get a mixed bag, but mostly the threads will weave toward the acute lack of qualified talent for open reqs. With the U.S. economy leaning toward full employment, this answer is no surprise.

If you refine that question and ask what TA “solutions” are hottest, you’ll get a bagful of AI, Automation and Chatbots. There are so many blogs and articles written about this, but “engagement,” the key element to all this activity, tends to get lost. It’s something we humans have done pretty well since the caveman days and translating the ability to communicate to a machine is the basis for all this AI chatter.
